India extends its ban on international flights!

Recently, there were reports that suggest that India might lift its ban on international flights from March onwards. A proposal for the same was sent to Health Ministry for its approval. But according to the latest news, India Extends Its Ban On International Flights on regular commercial passenger flights until further notice.

While the cargo flights and international flights under the air bubble agreement will continue to operate. There will not be any restrictions on these scheduled flights.

DGCA Awaits Flight Resumption Approval

DGCA (The Directorate General of Civil Aviation) has sought Health Ministry’s nod to resume regular flights which are monitoring the COVID 19 situation in India. But DGCA has yet not received any approval due to which the flights will remain suspended till further notice.

India Extends Its Ban On International Flights since March 2020, ever since the COVID 19 outbreak. Many countries have restricted international flights since March 2020 and are now resuming back the flights. Many countries are operating international flights under the air bubble agreements.

India has air bubble agreements with around 40 countries, including the USA, UK, Canada, France, Germany and UAE.

Update on International Flight Resumption

In January 2022 it was announced that international flights will be resumed soon but due to the Omicron variant of COVID 19, the ban was not lifted.

Though there has not been any update from the Indian Health Ministry, it is expected that flights will be resumed before the start of the summer season.
