CDC Issues New Guidelines for International Travelers
After the recent surge in COVID 19 cases due to the Omicron variant, the United States of America has issued fresh guidelines for travelers arriving in the USA. According to new instructions issued by CDC (The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), all the passengers arriving in the USA have to present a negative COVID 19 test report and it should not be older than 1 day prior to travel to USA. The new guidelines are for all the travelers irrespective of their vaccination status.
What are the new rules for international travelers?
The new rules issued by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggest that if a person is entering the USA then he/she has to produce a negative COVID19 test report and the test should have been taken one day prior to the commencement of the journey. Also the new rules have to be followed by all the travelers irrespective of their vaccination status.
The airlines have also been instructed to collect the contact details of and contact tracing information of the travelers entering the USA.
It’s the airlines’ job to verify the documents and allow the passengers onboard.
The travelers can also produce the documents claiming that he/she has been recovered from the Coronavirus in the past 90 days.
These proofs can be presented on papers or in digital format.
When will the new rules be implemented?
These new guidelines issued by USA and CDC will be in effect from Monday 6th December 2021.

Types of Tests that are considered valid
These are the types of tests that have been approved by CDC and are accepted.
RT-PCR
RT-LAMP
TMA
NEAR
HDA
It is advised that these tests should be done by a designated authority or laboratory, home tests are not accepted.
Rules for tests upon arrival
Though there is no rule to get tested at the airport, it is recommended that all travelers get themselves tested after three to five days and travelers who are unvaccinated should quarantine themselves for seven days.
