General Information About Chicago O’Hare International Airport

Chicago O’Hare International Airport is located in the Northwest Side of Chicago, Illinois. This airport covers around 7,627 acres of area to serve non-stop flights to 228 destinations. Main destinations are in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania.

Major operating Airlines:

Aer Lingus, British Airways, Air France, Emirates, American Airlines, Air India, Air Canada Express, Qantas, Lufthansa, Air New Zealand, United Airlines, Qatar Airways, Frontier Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, KLM, Delta Air Lines, Alaska Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Finnair, Spirit Airlines, Etihad Airways,  Alitalia, and All Nippon Airways.

Terminal Information:

There are total four passenger terminals i.e Terminal 1, 2, 3 and 5. The terminals 1, 2, and 3 all allow airside connections. But, Terminal 5 is separated from the other terminals by a set of taxiways.

  • Terminal 1: Terminal 1 consists of concourse B & C that majorly hosts United Airlines. Concourse B is basically fir passenger check-in, baggage claim, and security screenings on its landside and aircraft gates on its airside. On the other hand Concourse C has gates all around which is connected to ConcourseB via an underground pedestrian tunnel.
  • Terminal 2: This terminal consist of concourses E & F which basically operates Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, Delta and Delta Connection domestic flights, and most United Express operations.
  • Terminal 3: This terminal consists of concourse G, H, K and L. G and L operates basically the flights of American Eagle and concourse H and operates American’s mainline flights.
  • Terminal 5: Terminal 5 consists of concourse M which houses the international arrivals. There are also the lounges of many airlines.
  • Cargo Area: There are two cargo areas in this airport i.e. South Cargo Area and Northeast Cargo Area. The cargo provides 2,000,000 square feet of airside cargo space.

The O’Hare Airport has two sets of parallel runways:

East-West runways are:

  • 9L/27R
  • 9R/27L

Northeast/Southwest

  • 4R/22L
  • 4L/22R

Three parallel east-west runways are:

  • 10L/28R
  • 0C/28C
  • 10R/28L

  • Terminal 1: Airside, near Gate B9, Airside near Gate C18
  • Terminal 2: Landside, Main Hall
  • Terminal 3: Airside, Gate K11
  • Terminal 5: Landside, Upper Level and Landside, Lower Level

Prayer Room: There is a chapel where you can go for some relaxation, meditation and prayer. Here you can expect some religious books, rosaries, and Juma ablution. It is located at landside, Mezzanine Level, near the USO Lounge and above the Delta ticket counters.

Duty Free Shops: Duty-free shops are available airside in Terminals 1, 2, and 3. Here you will find wide variety of retail shops and newsstands throughout the airport complex. The Hudson News location: Terminal 2, Concourse F, Gate F4 and Terminal 5, Gate M10.

Nursing Rooms: There are many rooms available for child care. Families traveling with infants can fee or change the clothes of the baby at these rooms. These rooms have special facilities like comfortable seating, sink, and a washing area. These are at:

  • T3 Rotunda, airside, near Yoga Room and Urban Garden

Restrooms: There are various restrooms available for families traveling with kids. Family restrooms are available in these locations:

  • Terminal 2: E5 across from the Kids On The Fly exhibit

There are various lounges at the airport that can be entered by paying at the door, purchasing a lounge pass or through a lounge membership program.

  • American Airlines Admirals Club: It is located at Concourse G, Concourse H/K and Concourse L.
  • Swissport Lounge: It is located at Terminal 5, airside, between Gates M7 and M8.
